About Joe Allen

Joe Allen is the author of Dark Aeon: Transhumanism and the War Against Humanity (2023), a study of the transhumanist movement and the religious hopes that lie beneath it. For five years he was the tech editor on Bannon’s War Room, and he has spent the last three years traveling the country to speak about technology, transhumanism and religion.

Allen grew up in a small town east of Knoxville, Tennessee, and has followed the idea of artificial superintelligence since the late 1990s, long before it became a daily headline. His work asks a question most technology writing avoids: what do the people building these machines actually believe, and what does that belief ask of the rest of us?

A founding voice at Meriwether

Joe Allen spoke at Meriwether Academy’s very first event and is one of its Fellows. His talks in the lecture archive range from the ancient to the urgent: the Mahabharata and the Song of the Lord, on Vedic myth, karma and dharma, and why Krishna tells Arjuna to do his duty; Plantations, Zeal and the Final Frontier, a history of transhumanism in America from the Puritans and Shakers to rocketry and Silicon Valley; and, in October 2026, the dinner lecture AI as Antichrist, which read today’s artificial intelligence boom against Revelation and two thousand years of end-times prophecy.
