Anti-Propaganda
Workshop
An evening with Elijah Buffalino, President of Delator Group, the largest private investigation agency in Tennessee, on the tricks of persuasion and how to see them coming.
Spot the Device.
Keep Your Head.
Someone is always working on you: the anchor on the evening news, the man at the podium, the ad in your feed, the salesman across the desk. The tools they use are old, and they have names. This workshop teaches you to recognize them, so you can protect your own interests and refuse to be a liar’s mark.
Propaganda is not a matter of loud lies. It is a craft, built on strategic rhetorical devices that have moved crowds since the days of the Athenian assembly. The loaded question. The false dilemma. The appeal to the crowd. The quiet shift in a definition halfway through an argument. A man who cannot name these devices will feel their pull without ever knowing why he changed his mind.
Our guide for the evening is Elijah Buffalino, a licensed private investigator who reads people for a living and the author of The Prince’s Handbook, a study of 140 rhetorical devices used in persuasion and manipulation. This is a working session, not a lecture: we will study the most common and most dangerous devices, examine how they have been used throughout history, watch them deployed in recent news clippings, and practice catching them in real time. You will leave with a sharper eye, a steadier judgment, and a good dinner.
Elijah Buffalino
Elijah Buffalino is the President of Delator Group, the largest private investigation agency in Tennessee and Mississippi. A licensed private investigator, he has spent his career studying how people deceive, and how they give themselves away.
Before that, he served in the U.S. Army as air assault infantry, where he completed joint intelligence training operations alongside the Australian, British, Irish, and Canadian armies. He holds an active Secret-level government security clearance and is a certified JCATS and Blue Force Tracker operator.
He is the author of The Prince’s Handbook, which examines 140 rhetorical devices used in persuasion and manipulation. This evening he brings the investigator’s eye to the podium and the screen, and shows us how to read them.
“The point of modern propaganda isn’t only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.”
