About the Symposium

An Evening
on Character

Few men in American history embody steadfastness, discipline, and unwavering duty like Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. He was a man of rigid routine, deep conviction, and uncommon resolve. These were qualities forged in obscurity long before the field of battle ever called his name.

The Stonewall Symposium uses a curated selection of writings on Jackson’s life, character, and conduct as tools for personal reflection and conversation. We will examine how a man so plain in appearance and habit became, through sheer constancy of purpose, a figure whose discipline still instructs us.

“Duty is ours; consequences are God’s.”

The Format

How the
Evening Works

The symposium format is built around full participation. There are no passive attendees. You will engage, share, and think alongside a room full of men who take their character seriously.

After registering you will receive an email with a brief packet of readings on Jackson’s life, along with guided writing prompts drawn from his quotes and conduct. Please study these before arrival.

  • I will arrive at the appointed hour and remain through the close of the evening.
  • I will complete the brief reading on Jackson and the writing exercises provided prior to the event.
